Players Wanted
Sean Martinez - October 2022
We are looking for new players. It does not matter what your experience level is, or if you have even touched a basketball before. People with disabilities, especially newly disabled tend to keep to themselves, or think they can't do a lot of things. NO! NO! NO! That is not true! We are ABLE to do anything, it just may require being around people to get you going. All we look for is DEDICATION and MOTIVATION. Don't worry, we won't throw you to the wolves; we will train you and help condition you as the season goes on. We are now a developing team, which means all of us are still learning the game of wheelchair basketball. If you are interested, even if you just want to stop by one day to check it out, no strings attached, then please click "Read more" just below.
Adaptive Activities
Sean Martinez - October 2022
Wheelchair basketball is not the only activity that is adapted for those in wheelchairs. There is an adaptive version of just about any sport or activity you can think of such as sitting volleyball, wheelchair seated dance, wheelchair boccia, and the list goes on. However, if you are interested in trying one of the 3 activities listed, we would be happy to provide you with this information. Getting involved in some kind of activity will promote better health, you'll learn new things, and MOST OF ALL you will develop new relationships. "Get Set 4 All" is an organization with similar goals as the Sun Wheeler; please click here to be taken their site to learn more about these activities that they offer.
Sponsors Needed
Sean Martinez - October 2022
We are always looking for sponsors to help our organization grow. A wheelchair basketball team in itself has many different expenses, including; but not limited to, team dues for the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA), registration fees for each tounament we would like to enter, along with travel and hotel cost, maintenance of equipment, etc. We would love to reach out to more people in the community who have a disability to show them that even with a medical "DISABILITY," they have the "ABILITY" to still be active. Although we are known for wheelchair basketball, we also are looking for sponsors so we can get the equipment to start offering other adaptive sports, which will give those in the community a variety of sports to choose from and reach out to people from all walks of life to develop long lasting relationships. If you are interested in becoming a part of this journey with us, please contact us by clicking here.
